Q & A

Whether you need a new well or replacing an old one, you will have questions. Here are the most common ones we receive.

Q. How much does it cost to drill a well in Maine?
A. Generally 5-10% of the cost of your home. The driller generally charges to drill by the foot. The deeper the well, the more it will cost.
Q. How long does it take to put in a new well?
A. 1-2 days to drill the well, 1 day to install the pump system. Our modern rotary drilling machines have the capability of drilling 300-500 ft/day.
Q. How long does it take to drill a deep well?
A. Usually, a well can be installed in 1 day.  Our modern rotary drilling machines have the capability of drilling 300-500 ft/day.
Q. How do you drill a deep deep well?
A. 6″ casing is installed from the ground surface down into the bedrock and sealed. Drilling continues in bedrock until a water containing vein is struck. Well depths in Maine average around 250 ft deep with some shallower, some deeper depending on the type of bedrock.
